BridgingLife, formerly Carroll Hospice, provides comprehensive hospice and palliative care services to individuals with a life-limiting illness in Baltimore, Carroll and Frederick counties and Pennsylvania. Our goal is to allow patients to live out the remainder of their days as comfortably as possible, while also providing support to their families.
Palliative Care
Palliative Care is specialized medical care for people living with a serious illness. It focuses on providing relief from symptoms and stress of the illness, with the goal of improving the quality of life for the patient and their family. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage of a serious illness.
Home-Based and Inpatient Hospice Care
To make the most of the care and services offered by BridgingLife, a patient may require different intensities (levels) of care during the course of his or her illness.
Medicare and Medicaid Hospice Benefit
The Medicare/ Medicaid Hospice Benefit (and many private insurance companies) provides four levels of care to meet the patient’s clinical care needs, including routine home hospice care, general inpatient care, continuous home care and inpatient respite care.
Regardless of the hospice level of care, you and your loved ones have access to hospice staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Grief Support and Counseling
Our bereavement team offers up to 13 months of counseling sessions for hospice patients’ families. In addition, our bereavement counselors oversee our grief support groups, open to all in the community, where thoughts and feelings of those who have experienced loss can be shared with others.
We Honor Veterans
A program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, We Honor Veterans aims to improve the care of veterans. BridgingLife has achieved level five status in the program, the highest available, for its efforts in addressing the specialized needs of veteran hospice patients and honoring their service to the country.
Spiritual Resources
BridgingLife strives to ensure your spiritual needs are met during this difficult time. The chaplains at BridgingLife assess the spiritual needs of patients and families, and they contact local clergy as requested and provide spiritual care. In addition, our inpatient facility, the Dove House, provides a multi-faith chapel for patients and their families.
