The William E. Kahlert Regional Cancer Center Receives Accreditation by the American College of Radiology
Westminster, MD - (April 5, 2019) "The William E. Kahlert Regional Cancer Center has received accreditation in radiation oncology by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The three-year accreditation demonstrates the center's ability to provide the highest level of quality and radiation safety that meet nationally accepted standards of care.
Radiation oncology (radiation therapy) is the careful use of high-energy radiation to treat cancer. A radiation oncologist may use radiation to cure cancer or to relieve a cancer patient's pain.
To achieve ACR accreditation, the William E. Kahlert Regional Cancer Center underwent an in-depth evaluation by board-certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists. During the review, the surveyors assessed the facility's patient care and treatment, patient safety, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs to ensure the facility met the ACR's specific qualifications.
"The Radiation Oncology Team at the William E. Kahlert Regional Cancer Center and I are very proud of our achievement. It is a testament to our abilities to provide excellent care and the highest level of imaging quality and radiation safety to our family, friends and neighbors in the community," said Kathleen Erbacher, executive director of the William E. Kahlert Regional Cancer Center.
The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 36,000 diagnostic/ interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
