Sinai Hospital's Amy Perry Named "Innovator of the Year"
Baltimore, MD - LifeBridge Health is proud to announce that Amy Perry, president of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and executive vice president of LifeBridge Health, has been named a 2016 "Innovator of the Year" by The Daily Record newspaper. Perry received this honor for spearheading the creation of Sinai Hospital's BioIncubator, the first research facility of its kind in Maryland to be located inside a hospital.
"I am thrilled to accept this award on behalf of the talented and dedicated team that developed the Sinai Hospital BioIncubator," says Perry. "We had the unique idea to bring together emerging businesses, innovative technologies and leading physicians under the same roof, with the goal to foster collaboration and accelerate discoveries. With the BioIncubator, Sinai Hospital is poised to develop medical advancements that will improve the health of people in Baltimore and beyond."
The Sinai Hospital BioIncubator, which opened this summer, provides start-up biotech and life sciences companies with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and the opportunity to work with Sinai's physicians and other LifeBridge Health researchers, including the potential for clinical trials.
While other medical organizations have bioincubators in separate buildings or at remote campuses, Sinai converted existing lab space within the hospital into an onsite bioincubator, designed to spur new ideas that could help patients and fuel economic growth.

Along with Perry, the Sinai Hospital BioIncubator leadership team includes Mauro Moscucci, M.D., chief of medicine at Sinai Hospital and medical director of the LifeBridge Health Cardiovascular Institute; Michael Tangrea, Ph.D., scientific director of the Sinai Hospital BioIncubator, and Neil Carpenter, vice president strategic planning and research for LifeBridge Health.
The Daily Record's "Innovator of the Year" awards, established in 2002, recognize Marylanders and Maryland-based companies that have transcended common practices and developed innovative products or services that have improved their companies, industries or communities. Nominations are judged on four criteria: originality, impact, challenge and value. This year's honorees were recognized for achievements that took place between January 2015 and July 2016.
