Sinai Hospital Wins National Award as "Young Adult Employer Champion"
Baltimore, MD - The National Fund for Workforce Solutions has recognized Sinai Hospital (and its parent company LifeBridge Health) as a "Young Adult Employer Champion" for its proactive hiring practices and systems designed to foster young adult workers. Sinai is one of just 11 employers nationwide, and the only one in Maryland, to receive this honor.
The National Fund for Workforce Solutions selected Sinai in recognition of VSP (Vocational Services Program), a division that has been providing vocational rehabilitation and employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities and economic need in the greater Baltimore area for nearly 50 years. VSP's mission is to "maximize the employability of persons with significant barriers to employment through an array of workforce development services." These services include career assessment, work readiness, computer training, youth transitioning, job placement and employment.
"We are so proud of VSP's achievements in providing training and placement services to help young people find employment. In fact, many VSP graduates have stayed with us and become valued employees here at Sinai Hospital and throughout the LifeBridge Health system," says Amy Perry, president of Sinai Hospital and executive vice president of LifeBridge Health.
This is the first year for the Young Adult Employer Champions program, which recognizes employers that have shown leadership in recruiting, retaining and developing young adult workers. According to the National Fund for Workforce Solutions, these employers "have made a lasting investment in young adult workers by promoting effective hiring techniques, and providing access to onsite training and skills development opportunities that result in long term retention and career stability."
Representatives from LifeBridge Health and VSP accepted the award at the organization's annual meeting, held in Baltimore a few weeks ago.
