Sinai Hospital Rated in Top Category in U.S. News & World Report's Inaugural List of "Best Hospitals for Maternity Care"
Baltimore, MD "“Sinai Hospital of Baltimore was recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the country's "Best Hospitals for Maternity Care." The team at Sinai Hospital earned a "High Performing" rating, the highest level of achievement in this inaugural edition of rankings in this category by U.S. News.
Sinai Hospital was one of only five hospitals in the State of Maryland, and the only hospital in Baltimore, to earn this prestigious recognition.
"Generations of families have been born at Sinai Hospital, and we are thrilled to receive this national recognition that reflects the high-quality and compassionate care we provide to new and expecting mothers," says Daniel Blum, president of Sinai Hospital and Grace Medical Center.
He adds, "This latest honor reaffirms the expertise and dedication of our teams as well as the top-level care they provide each day across our organization." Blum is also senior vice president at LifeBridge Health, the parent company of Sinai Hospital.
The U.S. News Best Hospitals for Maternity Care evaluation looks at hospital data relating to five different factors: scheduled early deliveries, C-section rates in low-risk women, newborn complications, rate of exclusive breast milk feeding, and option for vaginal births after prior cesarean birth.
"We are honored to be recognized on a national level as we Care Bravely for mothers and their families. Maternal care is a special calling, and I am so proud of our amazing OB/GYN team and all that they are doing in caring for our patients and our communities," says Dr. Elizabeth Zadzielski, M.D., chair and chief of service, Department of OB-GYN at Sinai Hospital.
In fiscal year 2020, Sinai Hospital teams delivered more than 1,700 babies.
