Oh Baby: Sinai Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Reunion

News

NICU Reunion invitation featuring cartoon animals in swim trunks

What: Join us for a special day filled with laughter and memories as former patients of the Jennifer Gandel Kachura Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and their families gather to celebrate with Sinai Hospital NICU nurses, doctors, caregivers and other families for a heartfelt reunion.

Graduates who spent their first days in the NICU return to thank the healthcare professionals who cared for them and show just how much they’ve grown. The event is filled with lots of smiles, laughs and hugs.

More than 300 people are expected at the beach-themed event at the Maryland Zoo. There will be fun activities for kids of all ages including games, facepainting, a magic show, a visit from an animal ambassador, a deejay and a Kona ice truck.

This year, kids and families will also get to meet some superheroes! After the reunion, families then get to enjoy a day at the zoo.

Sinai’s NICU team cared for more than 300 premature babies last year.

When: Sunday, May 19, 2024 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Where: Waterfowl Pavilion • 1 Safari Place, Baltimore, MD 21217 • Parking is available on-site (media can access the pavilion through the main zoo gate)

Why: The Jennifer Gandel Kachura Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Sinai cares for premature and critically ill newborns. The staff also provides extensive emotional support and educates families about providing ongoing care at home. Newborns can spend a few days or several months in the NICU after they are born, and families often become very close with their caregivers and other families.
