News

A new group of sleep specialists will practice at the Sleep Disorders Center at Northwest Hospital. Murtuza M. Ahmed, M.D., David A. Mishkin, M.D., and Naveed H. Shah, M.D., part of the Mishkin Lansing and Jacobs group in Pikesville and Westminster, will now be seeing patients at Northwest. Ahmed will be the Sleep Disorders Center's new medical director.

Previously, Ahmed was an attending physician in Northwest's Intensive Care Unit. Mishkin has been in private practice and held past medical director appointments at the sleep centers at Sinai and Northwest hospitals. Shah has received extensive fellowship training in sleep medicine, critical care and pulmonary disease. The three join Abdallah I. Kafrouni, M.D., as sleep specialists practicing at Northwest.

"The additions of these physicians to our team are good news for the greater northwest Baltimore community," says Brian White, Northwest Hospital president and COO. "Sleep conditions are common and often go undiagnosed, but these capable experts will help restore restful sleep to many patients."

Since April 2010, Northwest's Sleep Disorders Center has been accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
