Northwest Hospital Earns National Recognition as 2013 Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, the educational arm of the country's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organization, has recognized Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, Maryland as a 2013 "Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality."
Northwest Hospital was acknowledged in this year's Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) for its commitment to protecting LGBT patients and employees from discrimination, for guaranteeing equal visitation for same-sex partners and parents and for training key staff members in LGBT patient-centered care. The hospital is one of a select group of 464 healthcare facilities nationwide to have received this distinction in the HEI annual survey.
"Northwest Hospital is proud to have earned this prestigious honor from the HRC and takes the responsibility of providing equitable and inclusive care to the LGBT community very seriously," said Brian White, president of the hospital. "The Northwest Hospital staff celebrates the cultural diversity of our patients, visitors and employees, and our services are provided without regard to sexual orientation, age, race, religion, disability and financial status."
Northwest Hospital is part of LifeBridge Health, one of the largest, most comprehensive providers of health services in northwest Baltimore.
