New Statewide Anti Teen Sexting Social Media Campaign Launches Today

BALTIMORE, MD - (April 4, 2019) Baltimore video agency Storyfarm, Baltimore Child Abuse Center and the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention have partnered to create a statewide social media video campaign against teen sexting. Baltimore Child Abuse Center

BCAC Executive Director Adam Rosenberg said "Teen sexting is a major problem in every neighborhood, at every school. It can start innocently but can lead to terrible outcomes including sextortion and human trafficking. Our campaign is aimed at teens and their parents. Storyfarm, a video production agency in Baltimore, is providing the strategy, concepting, execution and distribution of the campaign. Storyfarm CEO John Sherman said "Baltimore Child Abuse Center is one of our oldest clients, and a true partner. We were thrilled to work with BCAC with the grant money provided by the Internet Crimes Against Children program from the Governor of Maryland's Office of Crime Control and Prevention. Our creative approach seeks to shock viewers with the stark possibilities associated with teen sexting."

BCAC and Storyfarm researched the concept, language and tone of the creative with teenage focus groups, testing different approaches. The campaign is made up of videos in varying lengths, :60, :30, and :15. For all videos the creative is based off the same concept: a teenage football player returns to the school bus after a game to find his friends and many others have seen his texted photo.

The campaign encourages viewers to share the information with #stopsexting and to visit the website stopsexting.org for more information.

The campaign will run on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat statewide for two months starting April 4, 2019 and will be shown in select local theaters for two weeks in April. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and throughout the month, Baltimore Child Abuse Center will join organizations around the country in raising awareness, advocating for and educating families and communities about the importance of prevention. The Internet Crimes Against Children grant from the State of Maryland totals $75,000.
