Melissa Frank, R.N., named Carroll Hospital's 2021 Nurse of the Year
Registered nurse Melissa Frank, discharge coordinator, was named Carroll Hospital's 2021 Nurse of the Year.
A nurse at the hospital for close to 17 years, Frank was recognized for her exceptional work in ensuring the safe discharge of patients and her overwhelming support of her fellow nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. She went over and above her regular duties to provide snacks, collect donations and organize activities to boost the nursing team's moral during the challenging time.
"Melissa always provides extraordinary care to patients, so it's not surprising that she provides just as much care to her co-workers. I'm proud to have her as a member of our nursing team and she's extremely deserving of this award," said Stephanie Reid, chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at Carroll Hospital.
According to one nominee, Frank included every department in her initiatives, promoted teamwork, and ensured everyone had a smile and something to look forward to each day while working during the pandemic.
"Melissa is always thinking of ways to help others," said Melissa Jones-Holley, director of disease management and population health at Carroll Hospital. "She has a knack for identifying when someone would benefit from support and will go the extra mile to provide them with it."
Carroll Hospital, a LifeBridge Health Center, is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering the latest in medical technology, experienced medical professionals in a variety of specialties and a continuum of programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
