Melissa Caylor and Nancy Yocum receive Carroll Hospital's July and August DAISY Awards, respectively
Registered nurses Melissa Caylor, emergency department, and Nancy Yocum, critical care unit, recently received the July and August DAISY Awards, respectively.
A nurse at the hospital for 13 years, Caylor was recognized for her compassionate care when she went above and beyond her normal duties to find a caregiver for a patient's dog, which eased his worries at the hospital.
Yocum has worked at the hospital for 28 years and was recognized for her compassion when she helped a patient by completing the quilt the patient was working on before she was brought to the hospital.
"Melissa and Nancy are extraordinary nurses who not only exemplify our hospital's SPIRIT values but also nursing at its best. They are role models and have demonstrated the level of care that the DAISY Award was meant to honor," said Stephanie Reid, chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at Carroll Hospital.
Carroll Hospital's DAISY Award honors outstanding health care professionals at the hospital. It is given to a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse each month to recognize his or her extraordinary efforts in delivering exceptional patient care.
