LifeBridge Health Raises Minimum Living Wage for Hospital Team Members to $15 An Hour
Baltimore, MD "“ LifeBridge Health is raising the minimum wage for more than 1,100 hospital team members to $15 an hour, effective immediately. The move comes on top of a recent 2.5% pay increase and applies to team members who include front-line patient care staff, environmental services and food service personnel.
"At LifeBridge Health, we are guided by our mission and long tradition of caring for our communities, including members of our own LifeBridge Health community. We are pleased to announce this living wage increase at a time when we have seen many healthcare workers facing both financial and emotional strain during the COVID-19 pandemic," says Lisa Whaley, senior vice president and chief human resources officer of LifeBridge Health.
This is just the latest move by the system, and part of a larger multi-year effort, to evaluate hiring and compensation practices as well as to create more opportunities for team members.
"Compensation and wages are only one part of our efforts. We've also made significant changes to hiring policies in complement to our many community investments; all with the goal of providing greater access to, not just healthcare, but also economic opportunity," says David Krajewski, executive vice president and chief financial officer of LifeBridge Health.
Through multimillion dollar commitments at Grace Medical Center and state-of-the-art social service and family trauma centers like the recently unveiled Center For Hope, LifeBridge Health continues to provide added economic opportunity to the communities it serves.
The wage increase also applies to select union members and follows an end-of-year "Thanks-2-U" direct $500 cash benefit to team members recognizing their extraordinary efforts.
