LifeBridge Health Promotes Dr. Pallavi P. Kumar to Lead Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute
Baltimore - LifeBridge Health recently announced the promotion of Pallavi P. Kumar, M.D., to director of the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute at Sinai and Northwest hospitals and senior physician executive of the oncology service line across the entire LifeBridge Health system.

In her new role, Dr. Kumar will be leading the ongoing integration and strategic growth of oncology services across the LifeBridge Health system. Key priorities include advancing the clinical research trials program and designing initiatives to improve screening and early detection of cancers in communities.
“Having begun my career at Sinai Hospital, I consider LifeBridge Health my home,” says Dr. Kumar. “It has been an honor to serve patients and play a key role in the growth of our cancer program since my return to LifeBridge Health in 2021. I look forward to working with our team to build on our foundation of excellence in patient care and research to bring further alignment and innovation to LifeBridge Health’s cancer care services.”
She adds, “Our vision for oncology services at LifeBridge Health is to be recognized regionally for our commitment to compassionate, innovative, comprehensive care that reduces disparities and the burdens of cancer in our communities.”
Dr. Kumar earned her medical degree from East Tennessee State University. Her residency was completed at the Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital program in internal medicine, followed by a hematology-oncology fellowship at the National Cancer Institute. She is board certified in both medical oncology and internal medicine, with clinical expertise in melanoma, gynecologic and gastrointestinal tumors.
In addition to new leadership, the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute will also have a new home at Sinai. LifeBridge Health recently broke ground on the Mandy and Dennis Weinman Cancer Building along the east side of the campus. The new building will bring together pediatric and adult hematology and oncology divisions, diagnostic and treatment services, research, wellness and survivorship programs. Construction on the new building is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
