LifeBridge Health Names Tressa Springmann Chief Information Officer

News

Tressa Springmann has been named chief information officer (CIO) for LifeBridge Health. As CIO, Springmann is responsible for ensuring that the information systems and services used support the organization's mission and strategy by providing the necessary tools for patient care providers to deliver the best care for patients at the bedside, in the office and in the community.

"Initially, we will focus on expanding use of our electronic medical records to improve electronic access and use of patient care information," says Springmann. "This improvement will assist our care providers in managing the care of patients across all of LifeBridge Health."

"The expanding role of technology is undeniable as we face the challenges of health reform requiring integration of ambulatory, hospital and post-acute provider organizations as well as reducing the cost of health care through significant payment changes," says Chuck Orlando, senior vice president and chief financial officer for LifeBridge Health. "I am confident in Tressa Springmann to lead our technology division through these changes."

Previously, Springmann was the CIO at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. In addition to supporting the technology needs of GBMC, she developed and deployed the technology infrastructure for GBMC's physician network. Springmann also has experience in the post-acute industry from her time working at Integrated Health Systems, a chain of nursing homes headquartered in Sparks, Maryland, among a number of other health care-related roles she has held.

Springmann earned her master's degree in business from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and a bachelor's in biology from St. Mary's College of Maryland in St. Mary's City, Maryland. She has earned certifications in both health care information systems (CPHIMSS) and as a health care CIO (CHCIO). She is also currently an adjunct professor at Mount St. Mary's University in its Master of Health Administration program.

LifeBridge Health, which includes Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Northwest Hospital, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, Courtland Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and related subsidiaries and affiliates, is one of the largest, most comprehensive providers of health services in northwest Baltimore.
