Baltimore, Md., - The Daily Record has recognized LifeBridge Health Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President Leslie Simmons, RN, FACHE, as one of its 2024 Influential Marylanders, including inducting her into its Circle of Influence.

The editors of the Daily Record select the Influential Marylanders in recognition of their significant contributions to their respective fields and for their leadership. Influential Marylander honorees who have been selected three times join the Circle of Influence.

In her role as chief operating officer, Simmons oversees the operations of LifeBridge Health’s five hospitals. She also has systemwide responsibility for pharmacy, laboratory/pathology and imaging. She also leads LifeBridge Health’s team in quality, risk management, patient experience and infection prevention.

"Leslie leads by example, expecting the best from herself as well as those around her. With her background as a nurse, she is a passionate advocate for our team members, our patients and our communities. Throughout her distinguished career, she has worked tirelessly to improve the health of people in our communities, and we are so thrilled that she has received this well-deserved recognition,” says Neil Meltzer, president and CEO of LifeBridge Health.

Simmons became the first female president of Carroll Hospital in 2013 and oversaw the integration of the Westminster-based hospital into the LifeBridge Health system in 2015. In 2020, she was named chief operating officer and executive vice president of LifeBridge Health where she led the health system’s response to COVID-19, including all clinical operations.

“The 2024 Influential Marylanders are accomplished leaders who demonstrate vision and innovation. What they focus their attention on really matters; what they say is important; and what they do makes a difference for many of us in Maryland and beyond,” says Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media/The Daily Record.

The Daily Record launched Influential Marylanders in 2007 to recognize those who have made significant impacts in their field and continue to be leaders in Maryland.

Simmons was honored at a celebration September 18 along with 56 other Influential Marylanders, including four other Circle of Influence inductees.

Outside of her role with LifeBridge Health, Simmons served as past chair of the board of directors for Roland Park Place. She has also previously chaired the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign. She is also a supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of Carroll County.
