Leslie Simmons Honored at the Women Who Mean Business Awards by the Baltimore Business Journal

Baltimore – Leslie Simmons, executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO) for LifeBridge Health, has been recognized by the Baltimore Business Journal in their 2024 Women Who Mean Business awards. Simmons is one of 15 local women recognized for making an impact in the local business community and beyond.

 

In her role as chief operating officer, Simmons oversees the operations of LifeBridge Health’s five hospitals. She also has systemwide responsibility for pharmacy, laboratory/pathology and imaging. She also leads LifeBridge Health’s team in quality, risk management, patient experience and infection prevention. 

She became COO in 2020 as she was leading the health system’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Simmons joined the LifeBridge Health leadership team in 2015 when Carroll Hospital became part of LifeBridge Health. Prior to that, she led Carroll Hospital for two decades in various capacities, including as hospital president. She earned her Master of Arts in Management at the College of Notre Dame in Maryland where she also earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

 

The Women Who Mean Business awards recognize women leaders who have excelled in their industry by showing innovation, perseverance and great success. They are mentors who are trying to cultivate the next generation of leaders, as well.

 

Simmons and her 14 fellow honorees were recognized at a celebration on August 1.
