Krista Pittinger receives Carroll Hospital's November Patient Safety Hero Award

Krista Pittinger, medical office representative at Carroll Health Group Primary Care in Hampstead was recently presented with Carroll Hospital's November Patient Safety Hero Award. A staff member at Carroll Health Group for nearly seven years, Pittinger was recognized for her diligence and patience in reviewing a patient's medications and educating the patient on medication safety.

"Krista's efforts are a prime example of the actions the Patient Safety Award are meant to honor. When a potential patient safety issue arose she quickly sprang to action to not only correct the problem but educate the patient on how to be proactive with their safety as well," said Lisa Rock, manager of patient safety and risk at Carroll Hospital.
 
Created by the Josie King Foundation, the Patient Safety Hero Award is presented to caregivers who work hard to create a culture of patient safety within their health care organization. This can be achieved through various ways including listening to patients or their family members; encouraging them to speak up and ask questions at any time; improving communication and teamwork; and addressing potential safety concerns. The award honors those who set an example for others and inspire positive change.
 
At Carroll Hospital, the award is given to an associate whose actions most closely meet the award's criteria, and from a year's worth of honorees, one Patient Safety Hero of the Year will be announced at an annual banquet.
