K9 Officers: Hogs and Heroes event
What: Nearly a dozen motorcyclists from the Hogs and Heroes Foundation will ride onto the campus of Sinai Hospital for a celebration event as LifeBridge Health (Sinai’s parent organization) thanks the group for their gift of protective vests for the health system’s two K9 officers. The K9 officers will travel in vehicles leading the motorcycles onto the campus.
The K9 officers (coincidentally both named Dax) regularly patrol LifeBridge Health campuses and are regarded as members of the security team. They are also very popular with staff, visitors and patients.
During the event, LifeBridge Health will present a thank-you gift to Hogs and Heroes Chapter Four members: framed photos of the dogs in the police vests. The dogs will also take pictures with the motorcyclists and the health system staff who attend the event.
When: Tuesday, April 25, 2023, 12 p.m.
Where: Sinai Hospital (back garden)*
2401 W. Belvedere Avenue, Baltimore 21215
*Please come to the hospital lobby
Why: Hogs and Heroes Foundation is a community of motorcycle riders that support Public Safety, the U.S. Military and Wounded Warriors. The foundation sponsors and holds fundraising events for various Public Safety, U.S. Military and Wounded Warrior Charities.
Hogs and Heroes Maryland Chapter Four funded the vests that are custom made for each dog, costing more than $900 each. While it is hoped the tactical vests are never needed, they can provide protection during high-risk situations, such as an active shooter. This type of protective gear is standard for the human officers.
