Joe Brown Named Carroll Hospital's 2020 Nurse of the Year

News

A nurse at the hospital for six years, Brown cares for patients in the hospital's emergency department.  He was nominated by his peers for his leadership skills and consistently going the extra mile for patients and colleagues.

"Joe is an outstanding nurse and leader who is always willing to go above and beyond to meet patients' needs.  He deserves this award for his dedication and commitment to our patients and his peers," said Stephanie Reid, chief nursing officer at Carroll Hospital.

According to one nominee Joe is a perfect role model who accepts all tasks and accomplishes them beyond expectations. Karen Lee, executive director of medical and emergency services at Carroll Hospital, agreed.

"Joe is always thinking of the department and what would work best for patients and staff. He has been particularly helpful with helping us to get ready for COVID-19 patients."

Brown said he is extremely humbled to receive the award among so many fine knowledgeable and dedicated nurses.

"I am one part of an amazing team of nurses who work day-in and day-out to provide the highest degree of care possible. This is especially so during our current unsettling time with the COVID-19 virus. We have leaned on and continue to learn from one another during this stressful time," said Brown.

Another Carroll Hospital registered nurse was recently recognized for her outstanding care. Ashley Keating was named a Nurse of the Year as part of The Daily Record's 2020 Health Care Heroes. The Daily Record's Health Care Heroes Awards honor organizations and individuals that have made an impact on the quality of health care within our state.

Keating works in Carroll Hospital's cardiovascular lab and was chosen as the hospital's 2019 Nurse of the Year. Winners of The Daily Record's Health Care Heroes Awards will be celebrated at a virtual event next month and profiled in a special magazine that will be inserted into The Daily Record's June 26 issue and available online at TheDailyRecord.com
