Herman & Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital Names Dr. Scott Krugman as Vice Chair of Department of Pediatrics

Baltimore, MD - Scott Krugman, M.D. has joined the Herman & Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital at Sinai as the vice chair of the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Krugman will work alongside Dr. Aziza Shad, Dr. Debra Counts and other Sinai and LifeBridge Health leaders to develop and implement growth strategies for pediatrics. 

As a board-certified child abuse physician, Dr. Krugman will also continue his longstanding relationship with the Baltimore Child Abuse Center (BCAC), serving as the Department of Pediatrics' primary liaison to the BCAC. 

Additionally, Dr. Krugman will coordinate the Maryland Child Abuse Medical Providers' Network (CHAMP) on behalf of Sinai and LifeBridge Health. Clinically, Dr. Krugman will be working as a pediatric hospitalist at Sinai and will also see patients in an outpatient clinic setting. 

Before joining the team at LifeBridge, Dr. Krugman served as the chairman of pediatrics at MedStar Franklin Square Hospital for many years. In addition to his role as chairman, Dr. Krugman held leadership roles in graduate medical education and served as medical director for the MedStar Franklin Square Child Protection Team.

Dr. Krugman is well-published, with numerous book chapters and journal articles to his credit. Along with his various published works, he has held the position of journal reviewer for serval publications in his area of expertise. From 2011 - 2017, Dr. Krugman served as journal associate editor for Hospital Pediatrics and he currently serves as an editorial board member for Pediatrics. Dr. Krugman is a past-president of the Maryland Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and currently serves the national organization as vice chair of the Council on Community Pediatrics. 

Dr. Krugman earned his medical degree from Dartmouth University and completed his residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He also earned a Master's degree in epidemiology and preventive medicine from the University of Maryland.
