News

Baltimore, MD - The Hackerman-Patz House at Sinai Hospital will be filled with children - former and current patients at LifeBridge Health - their families, members of the Hackerman and Patz families, dignitaries and LifeBridge Health board members, on Thursday, April 24 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this unique haven.

Among the evening's speakers will be Neil Meltzer, president and CEO of LifeBridge Health; Gwen Eisenberg, coordinator of patient and family activities and a member of the Hackerman family; John Herzenberg, M.D., director of the International Center for Limb Lengthening at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics at LifeBridge Health; and Bill Turner, director of the Hackerman-Patz House.

Most importantly, the gathering will remember the legacy of Willard Hackerman, who passed away earlier this year, for the incredible man that he was and for the unmatched generosity that he, his wife, Lillian Patz Hackerman, and their families have shown to LifeBridge Health, not only in building this house, but with their dedication to numerous projects over many, many years.

"Mr. Hackerman, president and CEO of the Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, was a renowned philanthropist, a man of integrity, a sought-after leader and someone with whom his colleagues and friends alike truly enjoyed spending time," said Meltzer. "I always looked forward to seeing Willard and exchanging the latest news about his beloved Baltimore."

The anniversary activities will also include activities for the children and a buffet dinner for all of the guests.

Since the Hackerman-Patz House opened its doors to both children and adults a decade ago, more than 8,000 families from every state in the United States and every continent in the world have stayed there while their loved ones have been undergoing treatments. For them, it has been a place to rest, recharge and make lasting friendships with others who know exactly what they are experiencing. It is conveniently located on the campus of Sinai Hospital.
