Drs. Latona Thomas and Jay Mittal named Physicians of the Month at Carroll Hospital
Latona (Martha) Thomas, M.D., OB hospitalist, and Jay Mittal, M.D., general surgery, have been chosen as Carroll Hospital's July and August Physicians of the Month, respectively.
Affiliated with the hospital since 2018, Dr. Thomas was recognized for being a valuable team player, as well as her skill and experience in successfully delivering babies under challenging circumstances.
Dr. Mittal who has been affiliated with the hospital since January, was recognized for his selfless actions and impeccable medical care when he stepped in to perform surgery on a patient, which resulted in a positive outcome.
"Drs. Thomas and Mittal are outstanding physicians who consistently raise the bar in their exceptional care and illustrate our SPIRIT values at their best," said Mark Olszyk, M.D., vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer at Carroll Hospital.
Each month, Carroll Hospital recognizes the extraordinary patient care achievements of physicians, as well as advanced practice providers with a program called Physician/Provider WOW Service Awards. From those who are nominated to receive these awards each month, one Physician or Provider of the Month is chosen. And, from a year's worth of Physician or Provider of the Month winners, one Physician of the Year and one Advanced Practice Provider of the Year is selected.
Community members and hospital associates are encouraged to nominate a medical professional who has demonstrated a special dedication and devotion to patients in a variety of ways.
