Carroll Hospital’s Pink Fling Celebrates Breast Cancer Survivors with Day of Support, Education and Pampering

News

Westminster, Md. - Join the Carroll Hospital Foundation when all shades of pink will be on display as supporters step out in style, Saturday October 19, for Pink Fling, presented by Advanced Radiology. Participants will celebrate breast cancer survivors; enjoy laughter, comradery and music; savor a brunch and get education and resources about early breast cancer detection.

This year, Pink Fling will be held at North Carroll Community School where there will be a made-from-scratch catered brunch buffet, a mimosa and mocktail bar, a DJ, a craft project, silent auction, mystery bag sales, vendors and artists all on hand.

The day will also include a welcome by Dr. Dona Hobart, medical director, Center for Breast Health-Carroll Hospital, followed by remarks from Edna Musgrove, a breast cancer survivor.

The Carroll Hospital Foundation hopes to raise about $125,000 to support breast cancer services at Carroll Hospital. More than 200 people are expected to attend the annual event. One anonymous donor is so excited that this year they’re bringing 25 guests!

The attire, if you can guess, is pink!

A portion of the proceeds from Pink Fling benefits the Embrace Program, a 12-week program for newly treated survivors that focuses on nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, mentoring and other wellness practices. The other portion of proceeds from Pink Fling goes back to help support the Center for Breast Health.

Carroll Hospital and the surrounding community also go all out for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In addition to Pink Fling, local businesses are currently participating in ‘Paint Carroll Pink’ by painting their store-front windows in pink and raising funds for the Center for Breast Health at Carroll Hospital. Earlier this month, Island Green held a benefit concert and Carroll County Fire & EMS sold T-shirts. Examples of ways the community can support all month include: going to Patapsco Distilling, 1623 Brewing Co., Texas Roadhouse, Bullocks Family Restaurant, and EW becks to name a few.  Last year 40 businesses participated in some form. Breast care professionals urge you to use this month and this campaign as a reminder to get your screening mammogram.
