Carroll Hospital raises more than $90,000 for Breast Cancer Services during 21st Annual Pink Fling presented by Advanced Radiology
More than $90,000 was raised for breast cancer services and survivorship programs during the Carroll Hospital Foundation's 21st annual Pink Fling presented by Advanced Radiology. Held throughout October, the event, which aimed to "Paint Carroll Pink", was a resounding success raising a recording-breaking $93,000 plus for the Center for Breast Health at Carroll Hospital.
The event was a multi-faceted celebration of breast cancer survivors and promoted screenings and early detection. It included a range of activities held at the hospital, online and throughout the community.
Below are some activities that took place during October:
More than 40 local businesses had their storefront windows painted pink and let customers donate proceeds from their purchases to Pink Fling.
An outdoor celebration for breast cancer survivors was held at Carroll Hospital's East Pavilion parking lot. Attendees picked up pre-purchased Pink Elephant grab bags and silent auction items. They also received a complimentary lunch from It's All Good food truck and a make-your-own bouquet from Hiddenvale Flowers.
The 1623 Brewing Company held its first-ever music festival and October proceeds benefitted the program.
Texas Roadhouse in Westminster raised more than $5,000 worth of gift cards as they accepted donations from customers on behalf of Pink Fling throughout the month. The gift cards will be distributed to breast cancer patients at the Center for Breast Health.
Additionally, many local non-profit organizations got involved for the cause including Target Community & Educational Services, Inc.; Carroll County Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics; Carroll County Public Libraries; Winters Mill and Liberty High School athletics; and The Downtown Sykesville Connection.
"We are deeply touched by the overwhelming support of community residents and local businesses to furthering our cancer services at the Center for Breast Health. Their generosity and dedication to ensuring breast cancer survivors continue to have the services that our center offers are inspiring," said Dona Hobart, M.D., medical director of LifeBridge Health's breast care centers.
