Carroll Hospital Auxiliary Phantom Ball raises more than $110,000 for Carroll Hospital
Consistent, excellent and very caring is how James Pitts described the care his son received at Carroll Hospital for more than 40 years. Due to his developmental issues, James and his wife, Kay, brought their son, Michael, now 43 years old, to the hospital's emergency department countless times for medical care. During each visit, Mr. Pitts said the care their son received was exceptional.
"Most of Michael's emergency hospital visits took place at Carroll Hospital and they were instrumental in providing him with great care over a very, very long period of time and it continues to this day," said Pitts.
Mr. Pitts shared his family's story in a video presentation during the Carroll Hospital Auxiliary's Phantom Ball as a reminder of what the evening's funds would support. As a result of his moving testimonial along with generous donations from the community, more than $110,000 was raised for Carroll Hospital's Vision 2020 construction projects during the Auxiliary's re-imagined virtual 61st Annual Ball, held on November 7.
Aptly named "Phantom Ball," the event was broadcasted on Channel 19, Facebook and other media outlets, and engaged the community in fun and innovative way. The evening featured several video presentations with the finale hosted by Mark Goldstein, M.D., president of the medical staff, and Kevin Walsh, P.A.-C., member-at-large of the medical executive committee.
During the evening, donors were invited to support the Ball by texting the word "critical" to a designated number, learn about the re-imagined event and make a monetary gift. They also listened to various video presentations from hospital leaders on the essential critical care services the hospital offers.
The Auxiliary thanks the community for their overwhelming support, especially the Ball's Chair Barbara Gunther, the Pitts Family Foundation, the event's community lead sponsor, and the Carroll Hospital Medical Staff, the event's hospital lead sponsor.
