Carroll Hospice Expands Hospice Care Services to Northwest Hospital

News

Carroll Hospice has expanded its services in Baltimore County to now provide inpatient hospice care at Northwest Hospital, a LifeBridge Health Center, located at 5401 Old Court Road in Randallstown.

Opened on January 1, the 14-bed inpatient unit is designed for seriously ill patients who are experiencing symptoms that cannot be managed in other care settings.

On the unit, Carroll Hospice interdisciplinary team members provide patients with round-the-clock care, seven days a week. Specially trained in hospice care, staff provides patients with the highest quality care to facilitate physical, emotional and spiritual comfort with a focus on enhancing each patient's well-being and quality of life.

"Carroll Hospice is privileged to broaden our care in the Baltimore community and across the LifeBridge Health system," said Regina Bodnar, assistant vice president of hospice and palliative services for LifeBridge Health. "We have a long history of providing skilled, respectful and personalized care that is consistent with patient and family wishes, and we are excited to now offer this excellence to patients at Northwest Hospital."

In addition, inpatient palliative care services at Northwest Hospital and Sinai Hospital transitioned to Carroll Hospice in October 2020. Later this year Carroll Hospice will begin operating a 12-bed inpatient hospice unit at Sinai Hospital.

Affiliated with Carroll Hospital, a LifeBridge Health Center, Carroll Hospice is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering high quality care to people with life-limiting, progressive illnesses and to those who love them through the end of life.

"We are extremely pleased to expand our hospice and palliative care services throughout the communities LifeBridge Health serves," said Ellen Finnerty Myers, vice president of corporate development at Carroll Hospital. "Even though we are expanding our reach, Carroll Hospice's priority is and always will be the same"”to provide compassionate and personalized care."
