Aziza T. Shad, M.D., Now Leading the Prestigious Herman & Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital at Sinai
Baltimore, MD - Sinai Hospital has named Aziza T. Shad, M.D., the Ellen W.P. Wasserman Endowed Chair of the Herman & Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital and the director of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. She is leading a team of dedicated professionals who practice state-of-the-art medicine in a family-centered environment that focuses on the needs of each individual child and his or her family.
Dr. Shad brings 35 years of experience to the Department of Pediatrics, with expertise in pediatric hematology and oncology.

Dr. Shad joins Sinai Hospital from Medstar Georgetown University Hospital and the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center in Washington, D.C. where she served as the Amey Distinguished Professor of Neuro-oncology and Childhood Cancer and as the director of the Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology, Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
She earned her medical degree from Dow Medical College, Karachi, Pakistan followed by pediatric residency training in Pakistan, the United Kingdom and at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. She completed her fellowship in pediatric hematology oncology at the National Cancer Institute.

Dr. Shad is actively involved in the development of pediatric oncology programs in developing countries, particularly in Asia, the Middle East and Africa and is the medical director and co-founder of the ASLAN Project.
She is a member of several professional associations including the American Society of Pediatric Hematology Oncology and the International Society of Pediatric Oncology. During the course of her career, Dr. Shad has been an invited presenter at more than 230 national and international meetings and has written more than 100 scientific articles, abstracts and book chapters. She has also served as principal investigator for multiple clinical research studies. Additionally, she is on the teaching faculty of the Georgetown University School of Medicine.
