Why Regular Screenings Matter

Breast cancer screenings save lives. According to the American Cancer Society, women who undergo regular mammograms:

  • Detect breast cancer earlier, when treatment is most effective.
  • Avoid more aggressive treatments and experience better outcomes.

The American Society of Breast Surgeons provides the following guidelines for breast cancer screenings:

  • Women over 25 should have a formal breast cancer risk assessment.
  • Women at average risk should begin yearly mammograms at age 40. Women at higher risk should start yearly mammograms earlier, along with supplemental imaging.
