How to Apply to our Pediatric Residency Program

GME Pediatric Application Process

Thank you for your interest in the The Herman and Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai Pediatric Residency Program. We look forward to recruiting interns for the 2024-2025 academic year. Applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Our National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) number is 1249320C0 for the categorical three-year program.

US or LCME Accredited Medical School Applicants

Consideration will be given to MD and DO applicants from US/LCME accredited schools who meet the following criteria:

  • USMLE Step 1 and 2 or COMLEX Part 1 and 2 passed prior to December 2023
  • Graduation from medical school within the past 5 years

International Applicants

Consideration will be given to international medical students who meet the following criteria:

  • ECFMG certification.
  • USMLE Step 1 and 2 passed on first attempt.
  • If primary clinical experience was completed outside the United States, a minimum of 3 months hands-on US clinical experience is strongly recommended.
  • Graduation from medical school within the past 5 years and evidence of continued clinical exposures. Applicants who are currently in an ACGME-accredited fellowship in the US will also be considered.

Application Process

Applications are accepted through ERAS and must include the following:

  • CV
  • Personal statement
  • A minimum of 3 letters of recommendation
  • Dean's letter
  • Transcripts
  • Board scores

Only applications sent through ERAS will be considered. Due to the volume of applications, no applications will be reviewed when sent by email. Email responses will be limited to applicants who have been invited to interview.

The deadline for submission of application materials is December 1, 2023 for the 2024-2025 academic year.

We encourage earlier submissions to allow a more complete evaluation. Selected applicants will be invited for a VIRTUAL INTERVIEW during which they will have the opportunity to learn more about the program, meet with current residents, virtually tour the facilities, and interview with members of the pediatric faculty.

The residency program begins mid-June 2024 with orientation. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) will be offered at orientation. All residents must hold an active PALS card.

It is strongly recommended that residents take the USMLE Step 3/COMLEX Part 3 exam within the first residency year at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.
