Chronic Mesenteric Ischemia:

  • Unintended weight loss 
  • Fear of eating due to pain (food fear) 
  • Bloating or changes in bowel habits 

Acute Mesenteric Ischemia: 

  • Sudden, severe abdominal pain 
  • Nausea and vomiting 
  • Urgent need to have a bowel movement 
  • Blood in the stool

  • Doppler ultrasound to assess blood flow in the mesenteric arteries
