Team LifeBridge - May2017
Let's meet this month's representatives of Team LifeBridge!
Carroll Hospital
Cardiopulmonary Rehab Department
Meet the cardiopulmonary rehab team who are a dedicated, close-knit, hard-working group of registered nurses, exercise specialists and respiratory therapists who work together to evaluate, educate and enhance cardiac and pulmonary health for patients who have received a life-changing diagnosis.
The team can be found in the Outpatient Center, where members monitor, exercise and educate approximately 40 patients per day, and where they have had the opportunity to see amazing outcomes, among transplant and heart attack survivors who have learned to incorporate exercise and a heart-healthy lifestyle into their daily lives.
This unique group provides a safe, friendly and motivating atmosphere in which patients can improve, both physically and mentally, as well as be empowered with confidence and the skills to continue a heart-healthy, active lifestyle. The team says their hearts are full and happy from keeping their patient's hearts healthy!
Sinai Hospital
Patient Transport Department
Sinai Hospital's patient transport department is a diverse team, but each member shares the same goal - to create a positive experience for the 400-plus patients they interact with every day.
With more than 65 transporters, the department is a 24/7 operation. During the day, employees arrive at work every hour and then the overnight team comes in from 11 p.m. -730 a.m. completing roughly 148,000 patient trips a year.
Team members believe that every minute saves a life, so their goal is to respond to patient requests with urgency, and to treat each patient as though they were a loved one. The department's success is found in their commitment to teamwork and dedication to patients. This year, they were recognized by Press Ganey Associates for scoring in the 99th percentile in patient satisfaction.
Their achievements continue, as many team members have been promoted to other areas in the hospital, and recently four former transporters were promoted to being dispatchers within the department.
Carroll Hospital
Partnership for a Healthier Carroll County, Inc.
The Partnership for a Healthier Carroll County, Inc., located in Westminster, is an affiliate of Carroll Hospital and the Carroll County Health Department. They coordinate efforts of a variety of county organizations to address priority health needs. Some examples are: healthcare and social service organizations, schools, libraries, businesses, and law enforcement. In addition to The Partnership's staff members, they have dedicated in-kind employees from Carroll Hospital and the Carroll County Health Department.
Some of the activities they're currently involved in are Walk Carroll, a free, fun walking program; and Stay Strong, a series of videos that promote healthy nutrition and physical activity. Another exciting project that helps us gather critical community health needs is our Healthy Community Vision campaign where they set up chalkboards around the county and ask the community to write their answers to the question, "To me, a healthy Community is"¦." They also direct the Community Health Needs Assessment and track over 100 vital health statistics used in planning county health initiatives.
As part of their commitment to LifeBridge Health's SPIRIT values, they recently held a staff retreat where they put our goals into action by creating gifts for a local healthcare agency to support their work with children.
Sinai Hospital
The Herman and Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital - Pediatric Endocrinology Division
The pediatric endocrinology division includes three physicians, two registered nurses, two medical assistants and three administrative support staff. With the cutest patients ever, the team focuses on taking care children who have diabetes, growth problems, thyroid problems and puberty-related issues.
When the team isn't working, they enjoy celebrating each other and their lives! One team member is getting married this year, two have daughters that recently married, one just had a baby and another is expecting.
Even with their busy schedules, the team comes together to support causes close to their hearts, including participating in the JDRF One Walk last year. Not only did the team exceed their fundraising goals to support diabetes research, but they plan to take part in the walk again this month.
