Let's meet this month's representatives of Team LifeBridge!

LifeBridge Health
Information Security Team

LifeBridge Health's IT Security team has three members, Chris Ambrose, Shane Jager and Michael Hardesty and between them they have 49 years of IT experience.

This is reassuring as the team has been tasked with not only safeguarding LifeBridge Health's patient data, but also with securing the LifeBridge Health network and employee computing devices as well.

Located at Carroll Hospital, the trio is tasked with monitoring firewalls and inbound connections to external resources. They also identify vulnerabilities within the system and assist system owners with patching.

Additionally, the team performs security audits, risk assessments, and creates incident responses from malware and viruses. They also educate LifeBridge Health employees about certain IT security issues, such as email phishing scams, antivirus protection, encryption and web filtering.

To help protect you at work and on your personal devices, the Bridge will now feature cybersecurity tips from the Information Security team.

Carroll Hospital
SAFE Program Forensic Nurses

Although some of our teams have difficult jobs, they provide an important and necessary service to help our more vulnerable members of society. At Carroll Hospital, a team of specially trained forensic nurses provides compassionate, comprehensive nursing services to patients of every age that come to the hospital as victims or perpetrators of violent crimes.

The 11 team members, who are part of the hospital's SAFE program, are licensed to conduct detailed sexual assault examinations, strangulation injury assessments, suspect evidentiary examinations, and domestic violence injury and lethality assessments. They also perform other vital services, such as taking forensic and alternate light source photographs and providing fact and expert witness testimony during trials. SAFE program nurses regularly collaborate with law enforcement and other agencies, such as Family &Children's Services, Rape Crisis Intervention Service of Carroll County and the State's Attorney's Office to help their clients.

LifeBridge Health
Sinai and Northwest Clinical Mission Volunteers

Last summer, three LifeBridge Health employees from Sinai and Northwest hospitals joined the LAUGHH FOUNDATION (Living Abundantly Using Guided Helping Hands) on their annual mission to Colombia.

Rachael Brown from Northwest's Pharmacy, Christa Marshall, a registered nurse, in Sinai Hospital's emergency department and Mick Kukula, physician assistant in Sinai's orthopedics department volunteered for a one-week primary care mission to bring health care to families who could otherwise not afford it.

Sinai and Northwest's team were joined by 40 volunteer physicians, mid-level providers and nurses among others from across the United States who provided care in pediatrics, gynecology, ophthalmology, wound care, physical therapy care and education in nutrition and wellness.

The team helped 1500 people, dispensed multiple canes, walkers and wheels chairs, 350 pairs of prescriptive glasses, countless reader glasses and sun glasses. "It was a priceless experience for all involved," says Mick, "and a fantastic way to give back to people who otherwise would not have access to health care."

LAUGHH is accepting applications for the 2017 mission trip to Colombia, which will be held July 13 to 22. Visit laughh.org for more details.

Carroll Hospital
Food Service

Under the leadership of Metz Culinary Management, LifeBridge Health's new food service provider, and the hard work and dedication of Carroll Hospital's food service associates, the Overlook Café has become the destination of choice for many hungry associates, volunteers and visitors.

Since September the dietary staff has not only been flexible and creative, but they have also made remarkable changes to enhance and expand the food offerings available in the Overlook Café. Through additional training in food preparation, the staff is continuously making new and tasty dishes that appeal to everyone's palate and the cafeteria is now a place everyone can look forward to visiting!
