LifeBridge Health is thrilled to announce the arrival of the Zeto EEG system, a revolutionary new technology now available for our pediatric patients. This system, one of the first of its kind in Maryland and the tri-state area, makes EEG testing quick, easy and comfortable for kids.

What is an EEG?

An EEG, or electroencephalogram, is a safe and non-invasive test that measures electrical activity in the brain. It helps doctors diagnose conditions like seizures or epilepsy, and sometimes it can help differentiate it from other conditions that can mimic seizures. Traditional EEGs can be time-consuming and uncomfortable, but our new Zeto system changes all that.

Key Features of the Zeto EEG:

  • Comfortable and Kid-Friendly: The Zeto EEG headset looks like a bike helmet, which is less intimidating for children than a typical EEG setup. It doesn’t use any gels, paste or long wires, so there’s no mess or fuss.
  • Quick Setup: The headset is easy to put on, taking just 5-10 minutes to set up. There’s nothing that pokes or pinches, ensuring a comfortable experience for your child. There is no blood, pins or needles involved.
  • No Cleanup Required: Since there are no messy materials used, you can walk out of the office without any cleanup hassle.
  • Suitable for Ages 3 and Up: This EEG option is ideal for children who can sit still in a chair for 20-30 minutes. During the test, your child can stay entertained by reading a book or watching something on a phone or device.

This is one of several EEG options offered at Sinai Hospital. Your doctor will determine if it is the right option for your child. Not all children can undergo Zeto EEG testing, so alternative options may be recommended.

On the Day of Your EEG:

To ensure the best experience, here are a few tips for preparing for your child’s EEG:

  • Hair Styling: Make sure your child’s hair is clean and free of any products like hairspray, gels or oils. Opt for loose hair instead of ponytails, buns or braids.
  • Makeup: Please avoid applying makeup to your child’s forehead, as it can interfere with the sensors.
  • Glasses: If your child wears glasses, they will need to remove them during the test.

At LifeBridge Health, we understand that medical tests can be a source of anxiety for both parents and children. That’s why we’re proud to offer this new, child-friendly EEG option that makes the process as smooth and stress-free as possible. The Child Life Program at Sinai is also available to provide extra comfort and reassurance throughout the procedure.
