A New Era, a New Outlook and a New Direction for the Sinai Hospital Auxiliary
A major announcement about the future of the Sinai Hospital Auxiliary was made at the organization's annual meeting and brunch in late May at the hospital. On the menu"¦a celebration of the Auxiliary's storied past, exciting new ideas for the present and future, and of course delicious food!
After 68 years and a deeply-rooted Jewish-based legacy of philanthropy, service and volunteerism, the Sinai Hospital Auxiliary became the Sinai Hospital Infinity Mitzvah Foundation and moved from an auxiliary to an operating foundation. The new foundation will continue to raise much needed funds for Sinai's patients and staff using innovative, fresh approaches.
Not willing to waste anytime lending a helping hand, the Sinai Hospital Infinity Mitzvah Foundation handed out three grants to deserving services and programs right there at the brunch. This year's recipients were Greenspring Pediatrics, Community Initiatives and Tracy's Kids, an art therapy program for children. Additionally, Foundation members also brought new baby items to the brunch to support the Baby Treasure Chest Project.
Keynote speakers at the meeting were Chair Marcy K. Kolodny, LifeBridge Health President and CEO Neil Meltzer and Sinai President Dr. Jonathan Ringo.
None of this would have been possible without the countless hours and tireless efforts of all of the past Auxiliary presidents, board members and volunteers, many of whom were at the brunch. Since the Auxiliary's founding in 1948, members have worked endlessly to provide essentials and extras to make sure Sinai Hospital and its patients have the best care in accordance with the Jewish traditions and values of helping the community and those in need.
There are too many accomplishments over decades to even scratch the surface thanks to the amazing efforts of the Auxiliary, now the Foundation, but among the many are endowing the position of chair of the Department of Psychiatry, establishing the hospital gift shop, enhancing the services provided in labor & delivery and pediatric oncology, and creating multi-language information cards.
Looking toward the future, the Sinai Hospital Infinity Mitzvah Foundation will host a Girls Night Out on November 6 to share excitement, to engage this generation and to have fun. Stay tuned for more details!
