Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day
From the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion & the Black Culture Employee Resource Group
On Monday, January17, LifeBridge Health joins the nation in celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Every year, people across the country and around the world honor this great leader and his legacy.
What advice and words of wisdom would Dr. King offer to us in these challenging times? What would motivate us? Two of his many famous quotes come to mind: "we must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope," and "the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at time of challenge and controversy."
There are profound truths found in these quotes worth repeating and contemplating.
Martin Luther King Day is designated as a day of service, and as healthcare workers we are very familiar with serving others, especially in these trying times.
Thank you to all of our team members for going above and beyond in serving our patients, our patients' families, and, just as importantly, one another during this pandemic. To commemorate the mission of Dr. King and his legacy, let us reflect on his service to the community during very difficult times.
Thank you all for what you do to CARE BRAVELY in the face of adversity and continue to be resilient in the face of uncertainty. As Dr. King often said, "we shall overcome."
