About

Brian H. Cho, M.D., is a hand and upper extremity surgeon who specializes in upper extremity trauma care and complex microvascular reconstruction. He is a board-certified plastic surgeon with fellowship training in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery.

 

Dr. Cho is originally from California and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Riverside. He completed graduate education and medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. Dr. Cho completed an integrated Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program at Johns Hopkins University and R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland. During his residency training, he completed a dedicated Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Translational Tissue Engineering Center studying biomaterial approaches for soft tissue regeneration and angiogenesis.

 

After his residency, he moved to Seattle, WA to complete a fellowship in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery at the University of Washington. While training at University of Washington Harborview Medical Center, he received advanced training in hand and upper extremity trauma care, lower extremity limb salvage, complex microvascular reconstruction, peripheral nerve surgery, wrist arthroscopy, and joint replacement and reconstruction for thumb and finger arthritis.

 

Dr. Cho is a clinical and basic science researcher with interests investigating outcomes after upper extremity surgery, reconstructive procedures of the hand and wrist, delivery of upper extremity surgical care, and translational tissue engineering and biomaterials. Dr. Cho has authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles has received grant funding from the American Foundation for Surgery of the Hand, Plastic Surgery Foundation, and the Plastic Surgery Research Council. He has been awarded numerous awards including Johns Hopkins University’s Frank L. Coulson, Jr. Award for Clinical Excellence
