Pediatric (and Adult) Limb Lengthening/Reconstruction

Reconstruction Expertise

At Advanced Orthopedic Therapy at Sinai Rehab Center, we have extensive experience treating children (and adults) undergoing surgery for limb lengthening, limb deformity correction, and related orthopedic conditions. Common diagnoses that are treated include achondroplasia, congenital femoral deficiency, fibular hemimelia, tibial hemimelia, and Perthes disease. This includes care for patients with internal lengthening nails and external fixators.

The Program

The program includes highly-specialized, one-on-one physical therapy up to five days a week for one to two hours as determined by the patient's needs with highly trained, experienced professionals in the areas of pediatrics, orthopedics, and limb lengthening.

The Pediatric Program gym provides patients with a child-friendly atmosphere with activities such as crafts, toys, movies, and gaming systems. Our patients also benefit from forming bonds with other children undergoing similar orthopedic procedures.

Clinic Info

The clinic is located in the same building as the International Center for Limb Lengthening. Housing is available at the Hackerman-Patz House for children and their families with extended stays. Tutoring can be arranged through Baltimore City Schools, if necessary.

We aim to keep each patient with one therapist as much as we can, so once your surgery is scheduled and you know that you or your child will want physical therapy at Advanced Orthopedic Therapy at Sinai Rehab Center, please contact us as early as possible so we can best accommodate your individual physical therapy plan and your schedule.
