Sinai Hospital of Baltimore Names Debra Morton Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer

Baltimore, MD "“ After serving as interim vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer (CNO) at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore since October 2020, Debra Morton has taken on the roles permanently. She was offered the positions following an extended national search and a thorough vetting process by a multidisciplinary committee that included physicians, nurses and administrators. Debra Morton headshot

"Deb brings deep expertise and experience as a nursing leader and a strong enthusiasm and passion for patient care. She is also an advocate for our nurses and our patients."

Morton is a highly accomplished nurse executive with 30 years of acute care experience in hospital operations, strategic planning, staff empowerment, labor relations and quality management. She has worked with several large health care systems as a nursing executive/chief nursing officer, including Kaiser Permanente, Dignity Health and Community Health Systems. 

Morton started her nursing career as an LPN after graduating from Danville Practical School of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Thomas Jefferson University and a Master of Art in Leadership from Bellevue University. She earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of San Francisco.

Morton received her certification in Health Care Finance for Nurse Executives from the American Organization of Nurse Leadership, is a certified HeartMath trainer and obtained her certification as a Caritas Coach from the Watson Caring Science Institute.
