Pulmonary Conditions

LifeBridge Health provides consultation, diagnostic and preventive care for many pulmonary diseases and sleep disorders.

Common pulmonary conditions treated by our highly trained, certified physicians and staff include:

  • Asthma: is a chronic lung disease. It causes repeated episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and nighttime or early morning coughing.
  • Emphysema: a lung disease that develops over time and involves gradual damage to the lung tissue, specifically the destruction of the alveoli (tiny air sacs).
  • Bronchitis a condition in which the airways in your lungs become inflamed. The irritation causes severe coughing spells that bring up mucus, wheezing, chest pain and shortness of breath. There are two types of bronchitis – chronic and acute.
  • Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (COPD): inclusive of chronic bronchitis and emphysema, COPD is a long-term disease affecting the lungs, making it hard to breathe.
  • Cystic fibrosis: a lung disease that causes thickened mucus to form in the lungs. Mucus blocks the airways, causing lung damage and difficulty breathing.
  • Congestive heart failure: occurs when the heart has difficulty pumping blood which causes blood to back up and build fluid in the lungs.
  • Lung cancer: made up of small cell and non-small cell, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide.
  • Lung damage due to a heart attack or trauma
