Referrals to our RETURN! Brain Injury Day Program come from physicians, other healthcare professionals, community agencies, family members, friends, and survivors. Once the referral is made, our intake Social Worker or Program Coordinator assesses if the program would be beneficial, verify funding source, obtain necessary documentation, clarify transportation and finalize admission date. For the initial visit, we ideally would request family members would accompany the client, so families will have the opportunity to meet with the Program Coordinator and Social Worker.
The RETURN! Program operates Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
RETURN!'s treatment approach blends a therapeutic group environment with individual rehabilitative therapies. In this combination, RETURN! seeks to improve thinking, communication, interpersonal and coping skills, as agreed to by our clients. Each day is divided into group sessions led by members of our experienced multidisciplinary team. These disciplines include but are not limited to Physiatry, Neuropsychology, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation, and Pre-vocational Services.
Overall, the goal the RETURN! Program is to provide a supportive, structured environment in which the clients learn to accurately assess their abilities, promote their own healing, and efficiently learn helpful ways to overcome deficit areas. The average stay in the program is nine weeks.
