This six-hour, evidence-based class is designed to help you and your support person prepare for labor and birth. Using a family-centered approach, the class is taught by a certified childbirth instructor and encourages informed decision-making so your new family can have the most positive start. You'll also learn how to care for yourself following delivery.
- Pregnancy and the labor process
- Choices in childbirth, including pain management and comfort measures
- Relaxation and coping skills
- Breathing exercises and labor rehearsal
- Caesarean birth
The class includes a tour of the BirthPlace at Sinai. We encourage parents to take this class in the seventh month of pregnancy. Please bring two pillows to class.

Parents can take the six-hour course in two, three-hour Thursday
evening classes held 6-9 p.m. The two-class course will be
offered on the following dates in 2016:
- January 7 and 14
- February 4 and 11
- October 6 and 20
- November 3 and 10
- December 1 and 8
Parents can also take the six-hour course in three, two-hour Thursday evening classes held 7-9 p.m. The three-class course will be offered on the following dates in 2016:
- March 3, 10 and 17
- April 7, 14 and 21
- May 5, 12 and 19
- June 2, 9 and 23
- July 7, 14 and 21
- August 4, 11 and 18
- September 1, 8 and 15
