Freedom to Be Green

For almost a decade, LifeBridge Health has been committed to fostering a systemwide culture of sustainability. From creating its own compost to use for landscaping to monitoring energy usage on a daily basis, LifeBridge Health has developed a culture of compliance in its sustainable practices that has transformed it into a cleaner, greener organization.Freedom to Be Green Logo

With full support of the LifeBridge Health executive leadership, the Green Team meets every month to discuss and evaluate green policies and procedures. The members of the Green Team include dedicated employees and executives from Sinai Hospital, Northwest Hospital, Carroll Hospital, and Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital.

Some of the green features of LifeBridge Health facilities include:

  • Cafeteria food waste composting
  • Plastic, paper and battery recycling bins in all staff offices
  • LED lighting throughout the hallways
  • Lights that automatically turn off when a room is unoccupied
  • Eco-friendly cleaning products
  • A green roof

LifeBridge Health is proud to have earned several environmental awards: five Partner for Change Awards, a Communitas Award, an EPA Trailblazer Award and a Baltimore Business Journal Green Policy Award. All of these awards recognize the organization’s commitment to mercury elimination, waste reduction and recycling.

*Sinai Hospital was recently recognized as one of the 50 greenest hospitals in America by Becker's Hospital Review!

Using the expertise and input of active Green Team members, corporate partners and other peers in the health care community, LifeBridge Health continues to set high standards for environmental commitment and responsibility.
