Contemporary Office Technology Training (COTT), a 17-week program using state-of-the-art equipment, provides progressive, performance-based instruction in industry-based clerical office procedures and computer applications using the Microsoft Office Suite. Small group instruction and hands-on activities cover keyboarding, computer literacy, basic customer service techniques and job readiness skills. Students have the benefit of close student-instructor interaction in a small classroom setting while simulating a work environment. As individuals achieve competency in one or more modules, they may progress to advanced instruction—from word processing to spreadsheet development. Accommodations may include ergonomically designed equipment and enlarged print and screens. Instruction in how to meet employer expectations while building interpersonal and conflict resolution skills is emphasized.
In addition to computer training, other primary training modules include
- Business communication
- Records management
- Customer service and receptionist skills
- Job readiness skills training
Job placement services can be provided for a fee to COTT program graduates
Graduates typically find jobs as office assistants, receptionists, medical secretaries and administrative assistants.
